That’s what my girls are going to say when someone asks them, “who taught you that”. After having children I discovered my passion for teaching. It’s fun, engaging, crafty and even a little messy. As Paislee got old enough to participate, I took to Pinterest and started pinning every tot school related thing I could find! I dabbled in tot school with her, but...
it was hard to stick with it because of her short attention span and my misguided idea that we could actually follow a lesson plan. (I know, I know) BUT now Paislee is old enough to paint, do worksheets, and sit still for more than five seconds. Oh, this year it’s on!
I picked up a few preschool workbooks and stayed up half the night ripping out pages for our “lessons”. I’m pretty sure I blew through half of our ink cartridge. I’ve got a planner, I’ve got a binder, I’ve got a closet full of school stuff. If you can’t tell, I’m a little excited! Emilee, my one year old, isn’t going to be left out either. I’m planning tot school stuff for her to do as well, which follows the same theme we will be doing, of course! It will be easier to stay on track this time because I have a better understanding of attention spans at this age…thank you Paislee.
Each week we will have a different theme such as space or farm. I’m not really going to be uptight about following a certain order of letters, numbers, or sight words. She already knows her ABCs and can count 1-20 without hesitation. My main goals for her are cutting, pasting, writing, reading (sight words) and having a blast! I’m just going to let her take the lead and enjoy the activities I have planned.
I will be posting about each theme and the activities that made them fun and exciting. My goal is to help give you inspiration for your munchkin(s). Learning can be fun…and it should be!
