So, I’m at it again…trying to sneak in as many healthy things as I can. This morning I suggested a smoothie for breakfast, in which my 3 year old, Paislee, replied... “Let’s just put berries and banana, no veggies”. Of course I’m always looking for an opportunity to get my girls to eat something healthy, especially if it’s not a favorite. So I proceeded to fill my Ninja smoothie cup up with frozen mixed berries, peanut butter, walnuts (not a favorite), Kale (not a favorite), Romaine (not a favorite), banana (all-time favorite) and a little water to get things moving. Needless to say, as you can tell from the pictures, both girls thoroughly enjoyed their smoothies and finished every last drop…minus the evidence on their cute little faces!
Trying to follow the nutritarian lifestyle is a challenge at times, especially for Paislee who had already gotten quite attached to milk and cheese. Who says you need milk to make a smoothie? I’ll tell you one thing, walnuts help to give anything a richer flavor and they tasted yummy in that smoothie. Every time I looked over at my 1 year old, Emilee, she had her cup turned up. I would say this was a big win! Of course, I told Paislee after she had finished her smoothie about the few secret ingredients. She just looked at me kind of wide-eyed and went on about her business.
